Saint Patrick is the giver of the Word of God — The Roman Catholic Faith.  In the 5th century, after the barbarian hordes had overrun the Roman Empire, most of Europe had lost knowledge of God, but St Patrick converted the entire island of Ireland to Christianity thanks to his zeal, fortitude, humility and fear of God. Following their conversion the Irish people were filled with the zeal of St. Patrick, and went out into Europe rekindling the Christian Faith and saving civilization from going into darkness.
